The eve of my departure for the BIG APPLE!

6 hours of sleep seems to be the norm then. That’s what I enjoyed again last night and it feels sufficient but it’s making me feel a bit listless come late afternoon. Weighed in at the doctor today and I’m 1.5kg lighter than last week. He’s happy and so am I. We didn’t talk about the Duromine though or that I’ve been off meat and enjoying mostly veggies over the past few days. I guess I’ll save that for another visit.

Breakfast today was again 2 slices crushed wheat and bran bread, cucumber, lettuce and tomato with green tea…that seems to be my regular breakfast choice as it fills me up till lunch, which today consisted of half a cup of samp and sugar beans, half a cup of cooked lentils and half a steamed baby cabbage. I had a litre and a half of water and 6 cups of green tea up to that point. Surprisingly that kept me full, through my hairdressing appointment which set me back some four hours. Got home famished, and had to take in compliments about how great my hair looked, before I made a dive for the kitchen and settled on dinner of steamed baby cabbage, a small portion of braised brinjal with about half a cup of dhall thrown over. As always, hubby had my cup of green tea ready and waiting. Onto my third and final cup of green tea for the night.

I’m busy contending with packing my bags right now, between a frisky puppy, a demanding toddler, an inquisitive 7year old and two complaining adults, I’m endeavouring to remain calm and sane. I’m packing in a rush, and it’s something I hate. I have to develop the mindset of leaving a warm sunny Johannesburg for a cold NYC and Long Island. This time round I’m only packing ONE pair of boots and one pair of comfortable walking shoes. The other pair will be safely ensconced on my feet. Maybe hubby is right, if there’s anything I forget to pack, I’ll get it in NYC ***grins***.

Seeing that I’m gravitating towards veggies, I shouldn’t have a problem with the food in NYC…hoping that the jetlag doesn’t aide and abet and sabotage my eating plan!

My next update will probably take place from NYC on Thursday or access dependant from Dakar in Senegal, where I am transiting. I’m hoping that the travel’s good and that the airline food is palatable…also hoping to get in a good rest on the long flight, which is actually divided in two by the transit…8 hours in business class doesn’t sound too bad….
